Yaz Birth Control
The Yaz attorneys of Carey, Danis & Lowe are investigating the potential for lawsuits throughout the United States for users of the Yasmin and Yaz birth control pills who have suffered serious blood-clot injuries, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolisms or stroke after taking these medications.
Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Yaz and Yasmin (both containing drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) are birth control pills sold by Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals. In addition to its use as an oral contraceptive, Yaz has also been prescribed to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder and moderate acne.
Women who have been prescribed Yasmin or Yaz, or their loved ones, may be entitled to financial compensation if they have experienced:
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Pulmonary embolism
- Heart attack
- Stroke
- Cardiac arrhythmia
- Gallbladder disease
- Sudden death
A number of lawsuits have filed nationwide against the drug maker, alleging that Bayer:
- Failed to adequately warn patients about the potential side effects associated with Yaz and Yasmin
- Failed to adequately warn medical professionals about the potential side effects associated with Yaz and Yasmin
- Failed to adequately test and research Yaz and Yasmin to determine whether patients who took the drug faced an increased risk of blood clot, stroke, heart attack and other complications
- Aggressively marketed Yaz and Yasmin despite the known life-threatening dangers associated with the drugs
