St. Louis Family Filed NuvaRing Lawsuit After Daughter’s Death

nuvaring_lawsuit_settlements_class_action_lawsuit_wrongful_deathThe NuvaRing contraceptive device entered the market with insufficient safety information, as the product was never thoroughly studied, say plaintiffs who have filed NuvaRing lawsuits against the device’s manufacturer, Merck. In many of these lawsuits, plaintiffs have suffered serious injuries that they claim were caused by use of the NuvaRing device.

NuvaRing side effects include venous thromboembolism, or the formation of a blood clot, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, stroke, and heart attack.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch recently published an article chronicling the tragic story of a St. Louis family who lost a loved one as a result of injuries linked to her use of the NuvaRing. La Monica Greene, aged 17, developed a fatal blood clot in her lungs. She had been using the NuvaRing device for a short period of time, between May 2009 and June 2009.

Following the death of their beloved family member, the Greene family filed a lawsuit targeted at Merck. The Greene family’s NuvaRing lawsuit is one of nearly 2,000 similar lawsuits filed across the U.S.
