trans_vaginal_mesh_complications_recall_fda_erosion_lawsuit_settlementsAfter initially being dismissed, the Massachusetts Appeals Court recently ruled to accept the filing of a transvaginal mesh lawsuit targeting American Medical Systems and Boston Scientific. The case involves claims that mesh products manufactured by these two medical device companies resulted in mesh erosion, pelvic area pain, and other health complications.

The case is Allen v. Boston Scientific.

The Massachusetts case is certainly not the only lawsuit targeted at these two mesh manufacturers. Thousands of transvaginal mesh lawsuits have been consolidated into multidistrict litigations (MDLs) in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. As of mid-October, there are 11,152 cases pending in the American Medical Systems MDL, and 6,823 cases pending in the Boston Scientific MDL.

Similar to the claims made in the Massachusetts case, Carey Danis & Lowe continues to hear from women who have experienced health problems believed to be caused by transvaginal mesh devices. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), mesh erosion and mesh contraction are two of the most commonly reported transvaginal mesh complications.
